Parents and Students

It is with great excitement and anticipation that I begin a second year at Westminster as the Fine Arts Director.  In addition to my job at Westminster, I am married to my high school sweetheart and we are attempting to rear our 4 children in the admonition of Lord.  You will see them around during productions, usually running the sound and lighting boards! I bring over 20 years of stage experience, teaching and directing in community and educational settings of theater and music. My background training consists of a Bachelor’s in Vocal Performance and a Master’s degree in education.  More than that, I bring a passion to return the arts to the Creator in 3 ways.

  1. Making students aware that “being created in the image of God”, we were intended to come into a closer relationship with Him through our participation in the creative arts.
  2. Helping students discover the joy that comes from being “members of one body” by allowing each student to use his/her unique gifts and abilities in a theater production setting.
  3. Helping students understand that we “make our plans, but the Lord directs our steps” by following Westminster’s leadership philosophies, that are grounded in Biblical principles, when determining the direction of the program.

Our program this year will consist of 4 performance opportunities, as well as weekly drama club meetings.  We will begin our production year with a performance of Bugsy Malone Jr.  on October 16-17 at Valleydale Church.  Students in 9th – 12th grades will have the opportunity to participate in the District Trumbauer competition in early November. They will perform these at our Student Stages event in November, as well.  Our spring events will include a non-musical play and our annual Shakespeare Festival.  Weekly drama club meetings will be open to 9th-12th graders who wish to work on stage performance technique.  Each of these events has a nominal fee, which helps us cover the cost of materials, costumes and production and will be announced at the start of each event.  Students are also encouraged to pre sell tickets to assist in paying their fees.

If you ever have any questions or have any special skills in the area of set building or costuming or theater tech, please feel free to contact me at meubanks@westminsterknights.org. It is my joy to partner with you in the area of fine arts at Westminster!

Blessings,

Margie Eubanks
