Lower School Curriculum
The Lower School curriculum is designed to equip students for a lifetime of faith and learning. With an emphasis on fundamental facts and skills, students first build a strong foundation of knowledge, and then learn to think about and apply what they have learned. A variety of teaching methods are utilized to ensure that all learning styles and modalities are addressed, and the halls of Westminster are filled with the sounds of chanting, singing, spirited conversations, and laughter as student experience the joy of learning. Integrated thinking is developed by teaching conceptually, and students are guided to see the “big picture” as they master math facts, read great books, and study major events in history.
The elementary years are a vital time for training minds and shepherding hearts, and at Westminster we are deeply committed to both scholarship and discipleship. Our desire is that our students will rest in the hope of the gospel and have confidence in their identity in Christ as they grow in wisdom and knowledge.
