Music
Students at Westminster attend music classes once a week from Kindergarten through twelfth grade. The music classes at Westminster focus on the following aspects of music.
-
The understanding of music begins with the development of a theology of music. Students learn that members of the Godhead sing, the angels sing, the apostles sing, and all of creation sings; therefore, we sing.
-
Students are given a broad musical experience to develop them as performers and patrons.
-
Students learn to read the language of music.
-
Students have experiences singing in a group, singing in parts, and developing vocal independence.
-
Students listen to music of various periods and genres of western music history.
-
A choral ensemble is available for students interested in rehearsing and performing music beyond the classroom experience.
